7th and Aspen Housing Development - Midtown

A proposed affordable housing development in Midtown called 7th and Aspen in Bozeman, Montana has recently been approved by the Bozeman City Commission. The location is the corner of Aspen and 7th and includes the Midtown Tavern building, the house south of that, and what was formerly Aarons's furniture store. The project is proposed to include 96 affordable rental units. 17 for those earning 50% of the area median income, 29 for those earning 60%, and 50 for those earning 80%. At this point, the first two phases have been approved. The project includes a potential phase three which could allow a  building height of nine stories. This would have to be approved at a later date. 

Recently Midtown Tavern opened an event catering space. It will host a variety of social events such as wedding receptions, music events, etc. The longevity of the space is uncertain because of the proposed development. The space is expected to be turned into a parking lot during phase 3 of the 7th and Aspen development. However, with that part of the project not yet approved the Midtown Event Space will remain open. 

There are two other proposed affordable housing developments in Midtown. One is directly behind the U-Haul building, 8 Aspen which is proposing 289 units with 40% for those making 60% less than the median income. The other is the North 3rd Apartments which is located near Aspen Crossing. This project is proposed to have 216 units in 7 buildings.
