With things opening up in Montana, we are ready for a fun-filled summer in Bozeman. We are excited for the return of Music on Main and ArtWalks to downtown and are keeping our fingers crossed for Music in the Mountains. It appears that Sweet Pea Festival and SLAM will be going on as planned if they can safely do so. We are optimistic that all of our favorite Bozeman summer events will be happening in some capacity. Travel is also slowly returning, but there are still a lot of people who would prefer staying close to home. Luckily we live in a tourist destination, so can have a vacation right in our own state! Wherever you may be in the pandemic journey, I think we can all agree we are looking forward to a Bozeman summer!
Like last summer, both the Bozeman Farmers’ Market and Gallatin Valley Farmers’ Markets will be returning. The Bozeman Farmers' Market will start Tuesday, June 15th at Lindley Park and continue on Tuesday evenings from 5-8 pm. Gallatin Valley Farmers’ Markets will begin June 19th at Haynes Pavilion at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and will continue Saturdays from 9 am-noon.
The Big Sky Country State Fair will be back this year July 21st-25th at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds. All the fun events such as live music, fair food, the carnival, and the animals will all be back! Headwaters Country Jam is scheduled for August 19th-21st and Red Ants Pants Festival will be July 22nd-July 25th with tons of great bands. We could not be happier for the return of live music!
If you aren't ready to travel far, a staycation is a perfect option. Montana is full of so many cool places just waiting to be explored. Yellowstone and Glacier National Park are the obvious destinations, and fun places to visit. Montana has several hot springs that make a fun vacation destination. Chico is a favorite if you can get a reservation! White Sulpher, Elkhorn and Lolo Hotsprings are other options throughout the state that are worth checking out. Visit a Montana ghost town like Virginia city or plan a weekend in another town you haven’t explored. Fort Benton, Red Lodge, Big Fork…Montana is a huge state full of so many cool places. Summer camps will be back in full swing, which is great news for parents! However, some might not be ready to send their kids back to group activities. Luckily Bozeman still has plenty to offer. Bogert Pool will be opening June 13th and there are always the local ponds to let the kids cool off in. There is no lack of parks and playgrounds in Bozeman which is easy entertainment for the kiddos. Click here for a list of Bozeman's parks. Bozeman Public Library has opened for summer reading and the Museum of the Rockies his also a good summer activity option for those rainy days. Click here for more summer ideas for the kids.
In our opinion, the best things in a Montana summer are socially distanced already. Hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking, boating, kayaking, golfing…these things have never closed. How lucky are we to live in a place where we can keep on doing all our favorite things?
Local businesses need our support more than ever after this past year! We can go back to our favorite restaurants and shops in Bozeman. There are also several new businesses opening this summer to be sure to check out.
