Plans for a Second Bozeman Library Have Been Announced
On Nov 04, 2026
Summary: It was announced on November 3rd that plans for a second Bozeman Library are underway. According to the announcement, a second library in West Bozeman has been a goal of the Bozeman Public Library for many years, and now, the location is set for 401 Competition Drive, in the Urban + Farm development.
Where will the west side Bozeman library be built?
The second Bozeman library is planned for 401 Competition Drive, inside Urban + Farm in West Bozeman, just off of Huffine Lane. Urban + Farm is a 106-acre neighborhood located just off Huffine Lane between Gooch Hill and Cottonwood. The neighborhood is already home to the Millhouse apartments and the Grange homes, and development will continue to bring close to 1,000 homes to the area along with commercial space, parks, trails and open space. We broke down the full master plan in our Urban + Farm post.
How will the second Bozeman Library be funded?
Interestingly enough, the commercial real estate team that represented the buyer of this property, Marley McKenna and Katie Adams of McKenna Adams Realty have donated their commission to funding the library. Marley is the current president of the Bozeman Library Friends and Foundation. This is the first contribution toward a $5 million campaign to fund the project.
In an Instagram post announcing the news, many commenters expressed frustration about the cost of this library falling on taxpayers, but the comment thread suggested that this building is being paid for and supported by fundraising and donation, not tax payers.
What is the timeline for Bozeman's new library?
There’s no opening date yet, and no design either. We’ll update this post as more information is shared. If you would like to donate, the best route is through the Bozeman Library Friends and Foundation.
