This program is available if the value of your home is much lower than the value of the land the home resides on. The criteria for this program is owning or being under contract to purchase a home in Montana and meeting certain income requirements. You must reside in this home for at least 7 months each year. The Federal Adjusted Gross Income requirement for 2023 if you are single is $28,329 and if you are married it is $37,968. The deadline is April 15, 2025. You are eligible for this program if you are a current Montana homeowner, have lived in your home for at least 7 months, and can provide a letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as proof of a 100% service-related disability. If you have lived in the state of Montana for at least 9 months, are at least 62 years old, and have rented or owned a Montana residence for at least 6 months you could be eligible for the elderly homeowner credit. April 15, 2015 is the deadline for this program. Click here for more information.
This is the most well-known program and the one most homeowners are eligible for. If you are an individual who has owned and lived at a Montana residence for at least 7 months and paid property taxes on this property you could be eligible for the Montana Property Tax Rebate.
