Bozeman's Joe's Parkway Is Closing

On Aug 24, 2026

Summary: Joe's Parkway, one of Bozeman's longest-standing businesses, has announced that it is closing, and it's not the only long-running local business calling it quits this year. The building, built in 1959, was listed for sale in June, and is now under contract.

The closure was announced on social media by Joe's Parkway, marking the true end of an era. The business has been in the same family for the last 57 years and has become a much-loved place for many Bozeman locals.

How Long Has Joe's Parkway Been in Bozeman?

The story starts in 1969, when Joe and Sally Wantulok bought what was then called Parkway Market on College Street, just across the street from the Montana State University campus.

Joe had spent years working at Safeway before deciding to run his own store, and it wasn't long before Parkway Market became Joe's Parkway. His grandson Tyler and Tyler's wife Tara have been running the store for the past decade.

At its peak, Joe's ran a full-service meat department that supplied Burger Bob's, Taco John's, Spectator's, and Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, and it processed wild game on the side. In the late 1980s, Joe's got national attention for reportedly selling more beer per capita than anywhere else west of the Mississippi.

What Did Joe's Parkway Say About Closing?

The news of the sale was posted on the business's Facebook and Instagram, reading "After 57 wonderful years, the Wantulok Family has made the difficult decision to sell JOE'S PARKWAY MARKET. This market has been so much more than a place of work — it's been part of our lives, and you've been a huge part of that journey.

We're grateful for every memory, every visit, and every friendship along the way. As we move through these final months, we'd love your continued support — and the chance to see you one more time."

What's Next for the Joe's Parkway Building?

The building is on the market, listed for sale by Starner Commercial Real Estate. The property is under contract, and is expected to sell within the next few months.

The listing describes the property as a "great opportunity for income property or owner occupant. Fits well for retail, restaurant, or redevelopment, or other uses." It goes on to say that the "listing is for real estate only, business, FF&E and inventory available for purchase in separate negotiations."

Given that, it is unclear what will happen to Joe's Parkway, and the building once the sale is complete. But, recently Joe's listed

What Other Bozeman Businesses Are Closing in 2026?

Joe's Parkway is the longest-running name on this list, but it's one of several business closures we've seen in Bozeman this year. Downtown, Pita Pit closed its doors after 22 years on Main Street, leaving a simple sign thanking loyal customers. Open Range unexpectedly shut its doors this spring, as did Nova Cafe just a few months before.

A few blocks over on 7th Avenue, Pho Saigon has also permanently closed after several years in business, and Bozeman is saying goodbye to Dilly Dally Donuts after their storefront on Babcock came up for lease.
