Bozeman has made it on yet another list! This time as one of the 25 coolest towns in America from Matador Network. People are moving here faster than homes can be built and the real estate market remains strong with and the average sale price of a home in Bozeman is right around $540,000. Bozeman is by far the fastest growing town in Montana, but it will cost you to live here. It got us wondering what a half million will buy you in other Montana towns.
You can find homes for right around $500,000 in Bozeman's downtown historic area. These homes tend to be smaller and some need some work, but they bring with them plenty of charm!

Bozeman's sister city brings a more laid-back vibe and lots of Griz fans. Both towns have a similar population with Missoula being slightly larger. Compared to the other cities in Montana, Missoula's real estate market is the most similar to Bozeman.
This condo, located in Missoula's historic Wilma building makes us think of Bozeman's Baxter Hotel. A 987 Sq. Ft. condo was recently listed in the Baxter for $575,000, very similar to this Wilma condo.

Kalispell often gets compared to Bozeman because the two towns are similar in size and both are gateways to a national park. The similarities don't continue when it comes to real estate. Many of the homes currently for sale in Kalispell in the half million dollar range sit on a couple of acres, some right on the various lakes or river that surround the area.

Our state capital and home to some very cool, historic homes. Helena was one of the top ten fastest growing cities in Montana for 2018, which you can see if you've been over there lately. Many of the homes in the half a million dollar range are over 3,000 square feet with a small amount of acreage.

Just over the hill from Bozeman, people are saying Butte is getting ready to be the next big thing. It has a rich history and a real sense of community to the locals that live there. The housing market is much more affordable than Bozeman with a median listing price of around $165,000. If you have $500,000 for a home in Butte, you're going to get a lot of bang for your buck!
