Update: The building is being converted into a coworking space, click here for details.
Well, it's official. The building that is home to the Town and Country location on 19th Avenue has sold.
219 N 19th Avenue was listed in March of this year for $7,000,000 and went under contract in August. The property for sale included the 30,621 sq.ft building and 1.54 acre lot. The property is zoned B2 and the listing description said it could be an "excellent location for a large retailer, but could be modified for multiple other purposes".
It is not clear yet what the new owner will do with the space, but if you follow us on Instagram or subscribe to our emails we will be sure to keep you in the loop.
Town and Country is preparing to move into its new space in Ferguson Farm, just North of Huffine and South of Fallon Street. The new store is expected to open in the Spring of 2024. As far as we know, they will continue to operate out of the 19th location until they move to their new store.
Town and Country has been leasing the store on 19th Avenue since 1971. Rumor has it the name "Town and Country" was born because the location on 19th had town on one side, and country on the other.
For many long-time locals, the closing of this location is a tough pill to swallow. Many people (us included) have been shopping at this store their entire lives! It will be so sad to see this store go. All we can hope for at this point is that they don't cut down the tree!
