Gallatin County has partnered with United Housing Partners, LLC, and HRDC to develop a new affordable housing development near the Gallatin County Rest Home. The project, called Hidden Creek, is currently in the initial review stage. The 9.8-acre lot is located north of Durston Street and south of Juniper Street.
The proposed new neighborhood will include 182 apartments designated as low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) units for rent, along with a community land trust featuring 8 rowhomes that will be available for sale with equity restrictions. Additionally, there will be a parcel of land prepared for infrastructure, which will remain under the ownership of Gallatin County.
$2 million in funding was secured from the City of Bozeman and $500,000 from Gallatin County under the American Rescue Plan Act for this neighborhood.
They are currently in the process of subdividing the existing rest home from the vacant portion of the property. After this, a final site plan will be submitted to the City of Bozeman. The next step is the City of Bozeman's development review. The goal is to start construction by late summer this year.
