Habitat for Humanity Starts Construction on Affordable Homes at West Post in Belgrade

How many affordable homes is Habitat for Humanity building in Belgrade?

Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin Valley is building 8 affordable homes in Belgrade's West Post development over the next several years. Construction on the first homes began in summer 2026, with the additional homes to follow through 2028. Each home will be about 1,500 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

West Post is a mixed-use development south of I-90 near Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, combining commercial space with new housing.
 

Who will the new Belgrade Habitat homes serve?

The new Habitat homes are expected to serve households earning around 70% to 80% of the area's median income. According to local reporting, that could include families earning around $90,000 per year or individuals earning around $65,000 per year, depending on final qualification requirements.

Habitat has pointed to nurses, teachers, firefighters, restaurant workers, and blue-collar workers as examples of the people this project is meant to support.
 

What will the Habitat homes cost?

Each home is expected to cost about $450,000 to build, but Habitat hopes to sell the homes for around $350,000 to qualified buyers. Community support will help cover the gap of roughly $100,000 per home. At that price, these homes give working families a path to ownership that's hard to find in today's market.

What about the Belgrade ReStore expansion?

At the same time, Habitat's Belgrade ReStore is also expanding with help from a $300,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust.

The ReStore sells donated furniture, appliances, building supplies, home goods, and other usable items, with proceeds supporting Habitat's housing mission. As the store has grown, so has the need for more room to manage donations.
