Both mountain ranges are dotted with mountain lakes and offer unparalleled opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, and cross- country skiing. For the downhill skiing enthusiast, the Discovery Basin Ski Area is located about 20 miles west of Anaconda. It features 67 runs with 2,200 skiable acres served by six lifts. Georgetown Lake is a 2,800-acre reservoir located about 15 miles west of Anaconda. It’s a popular destination for fishing including ice fishing, boating, and water skiing. There are four campgrounds, five public boat launching sites and two private marinas on the lake. Rock Creek, a world-renowned blue ribbon trout stream is located another 10 miles beyond Georgetown. There are approximately 60 mountain lakes within 25 miles of downtown Anaconda, many of which are accessible with a short hike.
